The Lure of MECCG II is over. It was a brilliant action. You can see pictures here. Something about the action on "its" home site. Our reports will yet (I hope) appear.
This is a copy of the invitation for the festival.
A festival dedicated to our favorite game MECCG where we donīt want to look at any ranking list but just have a weekend of fun playing our decks.
Date:
11. January 2002 (starting at 4 p.m.) -
13. January 2002 (till 11.30 a.m.)
Location: Castle Hohensolms
(thatīs some 20 km from Gießen and 180 km north of
Frankfurt/Main; or letīs say in the very middle of Germany)
Costs: single Rooms: 145 DM (limited number available)
double Room: 125 DM /Person (limited number available)
Dormitory*: 90 DM
Dormitory* (under 26 years): 80 DM
The costs include 2 overnight stays with breakfast and supper. Also we will offer beverages and coffee/cakes for free during the festival (especially for the drinking game ;-).
And of course there will be lots of fabulous prices not only for winners.
Program:
I might say: everything you can play with the cards! But
surely there will be a "normal" tournament (general
opponent, 2deck), a wizards-only tournament (1deck), a
sealed deck with booster draft, drinking game(s), scenario
tournament, fun games, challenge decks (there will be decks
to buy or for hire), ... We also want to offer an introduction to
the game for all, who want to start with MECCG. This one will
be in the very beginning, so that you can take part in
different events like wizards-only, challenge deck, eventually
sealed deck. And there will be lots of chance to pursue cards
either buy or trade for them.
If you want to come for a single day, you are also welcome. For 20 DM you can take part in all events and you also get beverage and coffee/cakes for free.
*Note: you have to bring your own sheets (no sleeping bag) or otherwise pay 8 DM for hiring.
How to register: Send me an email declaring that you want to come.
Then I will send you a form for registration. You
subscribe and return it to me per mail and transfer
the proper amount to my account** (also cash or
eurocheque is possible). The period for registration
starts from now on till 15. November (money must be
transfered till then). It might be possible to register
later.
How to get there:
By car: you are driving on A 45 till you reach "Wetzlarer
Kreuz". There you leave for "Hohenahr/Bischoffen".
You are coming through "Blasbach", where you go on
through 5 km of wilderness (donīt forget some can-
celers for drakes!), till you reach "Hohensolms". There
you should be able to find the ruins&lairs, äh castle.
By train/bus: go by train to "Wetzlar". In front of the station look
for bus nr. 19. this one takes you to Hohensolms each
hour (starting at 5.30 a.m. till 8.30 p.m. - but not on
Sundays!).
We also offer to fetch you from the station in Giessen and bring
you there again. But then you should arrive there at least before
5 p.m. on Friday.
If there is anyone interested to come not yet of 18 years, we need
the suscription of the parents on the registration form.
